Congregation B'nai Butte
Crested Butte, Colorado
Born in Argentina, Monica moved to Israel when she was 16. As a Jew in Israel, Monica didn’t need to belong to a congregation to feel part of a Jewish community. That wasn’t true for her, however, in Crested Butte.
Here since 2001, Monica is grateful for the B’nai Butte community, which she says brings Judaism to the Rocky Mountains in a colorful way and helps instill a sense of Jewish culture in her two kids. She loves celebrating Rosh Hashanah with the changing colors of the aspen trees.
When she’s not baking challah for Shabbats or Bar Mitzvahs or the High Holy Days, Monica works with immigrant families in Gunnison County. She enjoys hiking and practicing reiki.
